We have quail birds that regularly visit out garden. At first I used to see only a small group. However this late October and November we have had many. In Novemeber I managed to catch them on my digital camera and have three short videos of them at the bottom of this page. I believe the variety that we have in our garden are the "new world quails". They are brownish colored and are crested. They have a forward facing plume on the top of their heads. I think it is a California Quail but am not sure. So if anyone knows for sure, please inform me! Thank you! As you can see I have a lot of mising information!

Nancy added this comment about the quail in my blog:
It sure sounds like it would be the California Quail with that distinctive plume, size and location. If so, they will come to waterers and feeders for grain and seeds and form coveys of 10-20, 30-40 birds but can number up to 600 birds! In spring these coveys disperse into breeding pairs. They have adapted to suburban areas where they have been known to become tame in the absense of predators.
Thank you Nancy! You have added a lot of missing information for me.
