This is an excellent book. A friend loaned it to me and I have had it for well over four weeks and keep refering to it! It is about training your puppy and it's health care for the first year. It looks at life from the puppy's angle, the equipment you are likely to need to train your puppy, and takes you through several stages of development, month by month and what you can expect from your puppy as well as looking at preventative health maintenance, fleas, ticks, worms and other bugs it might have and household dangers. A great book to have as a reference!

This is another book that I got loaned long term from my daughter in UK. It too is excellent. It is well illustrated with photos of people and their dogs that are being trained so you can see at a glance how to stand or hold your hand or position yourself. It takes you through leadership issues and how to retrain your dog so it knows YOU are the leader, an important fact in dog training. It talks about obedience, heelwork, stay, recall, and troubleshooting as well as other issues. An excellent book that is great to have to refer to whether you have a puppy or a full grown dog.
