July 1st Bosun is 19 weeks old today
Our two visitors arrived today to stay with us for the weekend. More excitement for Bo! He loves having people around to make a fuss of him!
Bo is too big for his harness now so when he is on his long leash by the door or attached to a table in the field he is only on his neck collar. His neck is much stronger now and he has learnt that he is on leash and can't go far, unlike the early days when he didn't know this!
His fur is very silky and he is beginning to get longer hair on his tail, like the adult Border Collies have!
He still likes to follow Big Brother Jaxx around and Jaxx still puts him in his place and we hear a yelp from Bo!
He likes to go into the paddock with Sparky the horse each morning now. However Sparky is rarely close to him and I notice when he is that Bo takes a bit more care! Bo always comes running if I give the horses a handful of grass or hay. He likes to see what is going on and is a bit jealous I suspect of the horses getting stuff from me. If I take them carrots he needs his piece too!
Bo and Jaxx got given a Frisbee and a ball this weekend. Bo loves the Frisbee and the ball and Jaxx loves the ball.
Bo lost another tooth this weekend.
July 8 2006 Bo is 20 weeks old today
July 10th 2006
Bo has been off leash a lot this last week. He follows us around and 'helps' when we alter the irrigation pipes. He loves the water and drinks from the water cannons and plays in the water. He gets really wet then goes and dries off in some dusty area and gets all muddy then comes inside and settles under the kitchen counter and leaves a pile of dirt!!!
Today when I tried to put his lead on him he tried to bite me. Not nice. I am not sure why he has started doing this but it is something I will have to work on.

Bosun had me laughing today. I was about to wash the kitchen floor so filled the basin up with hot water with floor cleaner in it. Bo was outside and off leash but I had just done the dishes and there was no sign of him so I really thought I would be able to wash the floor without his help. I was jsut about to close the kitchen door as the basin was filling when he came bounding in, all excited as he saw the floor cloth in my hand. No problem I thought. I can start to brush the utility room and he is bound to get involved with the brush, then I can back into the kitchen and shut the door on him. He thought differently! He got excited over the brush but wasn't being duped into anything! As I backed ever so slowly and inconspicuously into the kitchen so did he!!!! I had to change my tactics and go right outside with the brush to get him out there! He did eventually get involved with the floor brush so that I was able to close the kitchen door and wash it. However he came back to the door and got on his hind legs so he could watch me have fun inthe kitchen! What a lovely bundle he is!
Bo noticed deer on our property today when we were in the gazebo and barked and chased them off.

Bo likes to play with his empty food dish. It is metal and he puts one paw in it and scoots around the room with it, making excited noises as he goes! Maybe he thinks it is a frisbee?!!
While I am preparing my salad for my lunch Bo decides to steal the last piece of cucumber. Luckily I have my pieces already prepared on my plate! The first I noticed it was when heard him chewing on something and turned to see what it was. Then he rushed out the kithen door, guiltily! He brought it back, well chewed and covered in soil!!

This evening I took Bo AND Jaxx for a walk together and Bo was good! He didn't chew Jaxx's lead or try to control him which was good!

I discovered my glasses on the floor outside the back door this morning after I had had my shower. They are not wearable anymore. The lens on one side is broken and the surrounding wire is chewed and mis-shapen. I will need to go to the optician tomorrow! That was an expensive 'bone' for Bo. I will have to be very careful from now on!

I spied Bo this afternoon stealing raspberries from the bush beside the carport eating them straight off the bush! This is the second time today that I saw him do this and got photographic evidence!!

Bo had another loose tooth the other day and I notice it is gone today.
Bo is much better these days at fetching the ball. He still loves to chase the ball and then lays and guards it! However if I ask him to bring it then most times he will now though he really prefers to have two balls to play with.. you throwing one, and him guarding the other! Then he leaves the guarded ball to get the other one!
July 22 2006 Bo is 22 weeks old today
This morning I intended to take both dogs walking together early before the heat of the day got overpowering (it was already over 20C by 7am! and is going up to 39C later in the day, similar to the last few days) but Bosun was so excited to see Jaxx awake so early that he couldn't leave him alone. Jaxx decided that he would go back to the utility room and not go walking yet.(I took him as soon as Bo had had his walk, but wihtout Bo!) So I walked Bo along the road and down to the river. He was pulling at first so I held the lead in my right hand and put the lead behind my back and had Bo on my left hand side. Then when he pulled, my back was taking the pull and it didn't hurt my arm. Plus it gave Bo the correct position that I wanted him in. By the end of the walk I was holding the lead normally and he was walking much better but still has a long way to go before he is walking as I want him to. I paddled in the river thinking that Bo, who loves hoses and water canons and can't keep out of them would love it in the water. I was wrong. Bo came and paddled. He didn't drink and he didn't play in the water, just gingerly walked around and was out before me (I kept him on leash.)
