I found out that my name has been recorded wrongly in the births section of the Births, Marriages and deaths records. The registra either wrote it wrongly, or it was transcribed wrongly.
I have recently found another error when researching my family tree.
I was looking at census..1841 Great Yarmouth. James Berry of the York Hotel, Great Yarmouth. I was talking to my friend about it. She has ancestry.co subscriptions so she went online to see which census I was talking about. Becasue she has a subscription she is able to see a copy of the actual record, as it is written, in the handwriting that it was written in.
In the 1841 census it shows her and James as being born in Norfolk!
BERRY James 30 Inn Keeper (The York Hotel) Nfk 27 18
WEBB Caroline 20 F.S. Nfk 27 18
She looked at the record and said that in his employ was a woman called "Caroline Mobbs" or it could be "Caroline Webbs".
My ears pricked up because my dad had always said we have "Mobbs" in the family, linked in some way to the "Berry" family.
"Interesting" I thought. But I found no other clue. Until today!
I looked up in Ancestry BMD index for the marriage of "James Berry." According to the information I had he was married on 12 April 1842 at St Nicholas Church Great Yarmouth. And I had him linked to "Caroline Webbs". I found "James Berry" in the second quarter of the Marriage Index, registered at yarmouth, volume 13, page 577. So then I looked for "Caroline Webbs" in the same quarter. Nothing! So then I searched for "Caroline Mobbs" and found her in the second quarter of the Marriage Index, registered at Yarmouth, volume 13, page 577!!!
I think the only way I am going to prove that it is "Caroline Mobbs" married to "James Berry" is to look at the parish records and the marriage certificate.
I have looked to see if I can find any evidence for "Caroline Mobbs" birth in either Norfolk or Suffolk (the 1871 census says she was born in Beccles, Suffolk whereas the 1851 says she was born in Norfolk.)
In the 1871 census it shows her as being born in Beccles Suff.
BERRY Caroline 54 hd wid Dressmaker (Napoleon Pl) Beccles Suff.
I found evidence for a "Caroline Mobbs" born in 1820 at Ringfield, Suffolk. The map shows Ringfield to be only a mile or two away from Beccles.

Berry/Haylett family tree Updated Dec 2006.. because of the evidence I discuss above!
My transcription errors: When copying from my original tree to my power point presentation I had put my father's sister as being born in 1943 when her mother would have been 62! It has been corrected!
I had also copied my mother's birth year wrongly and made her two years older! That too has been corrected!
