Losing weight

Exercise

In January this year (2008)I started exercising daily. First I cycled on the exercise bike for a minute or two and each day I would increase the distance I cycled. After two weeks I was cycling inside on the exercise bike doign 15 kilometers (about 9 miles). Also I increased my routine to include lifting weights and doing 100 steps on the step machine.

While doign this I knew I ought to be attending to my diet but I didn not want to "diet". I had tried the "Southbeach diet" last year and although I lost a bit of weight (my husband lost more and kept most of it off), I quickly put weight back on, and indeed was heavier than when I had first sstarted the diet!

I am pleased to report that not only am I still exercising daily but now I am doing something about the way I eat. I deliberately did NOT put “dieting” here.

Last night we watched Paul McKenna’s television program: “I can make you thin” and now we are following his regime. There are several episodes to this program and I will miss some of them.

However so far we have been given

Four Golden Rules.

1. Eat when you are hungry.

If you think you are hungry, drink a glass of water because often we are dehydrated not hungry. If you are still hungry after that then eat.

2. Eat what you want.

3. Eat conscientiously

…put your knife and fork down between bites and chew each mouthful at least 20 times; have no distractions (no television, reading or puzzles while eating).

4. Stop when you are full.

(eat one meal with your eyes closed so you can really concentrate on what you are eating and listen to the signals from your stomach).

Paul McKenna has shown us the results from several people and they are dramatic. Not only have these people lost a lot of weight but they have kept it off for several years… and they eat the foods they like! No more yo-yo dieting!

Certainly worth a go. What I like about it is: If you are hungry then eat! I don’t know about anyone else but if I am forbidden something to eat then my mind cannot stop thinking about it!

Here’s to success!!!!
