Robins

The Robin found in North America is a bigger variety to the one found in the UK.

Size:

The robin is a small bird, being about 8-11 in tall. It's wingspan is between 12 and 16 inches.

Color

The robin has grey back and wings. Its' underparts are red and it has a dark head with white eye crescents. The beak is yellowy orange.The female has slightly paler colorings to the male.

Habitat

Forests, woodlands and residential areas. The male robin is territorial and will fight another intruding male.

Diet

The robin eats earthworms, beetle grub, insects, and fruit.

Nests

They usually nest away from people and houses.

Eggs

A vibrant light blue color.

Mating

Lifespan

If they survive the first year they can live to be 5 or 6 years old.

Where found

North America.

3 March 2007. The first robins of the year arrived in force! We had a flock that came to the Ponderosa Pine trees and ate the berries on the Rowan Trees. Before that we had only had a handful of robins in the garden.
