It was such a clear day on October 12 2006 that as I landed at Vancouver International Airport I took some videos.
We have flown over Harrison Lake area, and are now coming into land at Vancouver International Airport. We are beginning to fly alongside the Fraser River. Video 1:
Flying along beside the Fraser River towards new Westminster. In this video you can see the Pattullo Bridge with the bridge carrying the sky train beside it. if you look closely you will see the sky train moving from west to east (left to right)) Then you see Annacis Island and then the Queensborough Bridge. Video 2.
Flying along the Fraser towards Burnaby. It starts at the Queensborough Bridge. I believe that the red you see in the fields is Cranberries growing. The first high rises you see are Burnaby. The mountains are the North Shore Mountains and the city in the distance is Vancouver. Video 3:
Getting nearer the airport. The bridge you see in this video is the Knight street bridge. The red is again cranberry fields. We are flying over Richmond following the North Arm of the Fraser River. Video 4
In this video you can see the Oak Street Bridge closely followed by the Arthur Laing Bridge. Video 5
Touch down at vancouver International Airport. We have just touched down. You can see the North Shore Mountains in the distance. Video 6
Taxi-ing in after landing at Vancouver International Airport. You can see the terminal buildings, the control tower and the Fairmont Hotel as we come into the gate to deplane. Video 7.
As you come towards the immigration hall, you see this waterfall with this carving in front of it. It is very very high, over twenty feet I would think, but you wouldn't know it from this photo!
