Zucchini/courgettes

I planted our zucchini from seed straight into the greenhouse at the end of April 2006

They were planted out into the veggie patch on May 20 2006.

These photos were taken on July 22 2006

How to grow

Wait until al chance of frost has gone before planting out in the garden. Plant about 2 or 3 feet apart. Zucchini like a sunny location. They like to be well watered, especially during the hot, dry days of summer. Plant them in a differnt place the following year or they may get diseased.

Pick the zucchini when they are young and small as they taste better then... Pick them by the time they are 6 inches long or they will be tougher and not as tasty.

Harvest by twisting the zucchini off the vine or cut it off with a knife.
